The Berlin Volunteer Award Tree
City of Berlin Volunteer Recognition Award
The Berlin Volunteer Awards will be given annually during April, National Volunteer Month, to volunteers who have done service to the municipality of Berlin. The Berlin Community Services Department is now taking applications for this year’s awards. Applications are available at the Berlin Health Department, City Manager’s Office, Berlin Public Library and the Recreation & Parks Department or on the City web site www.berlinnh.gov . Please call 752-2010 or 752-1272 if you would like an application mailed or e-mail your nomination.
The awards will be given in a number of categories so as to recognize a variety of people who are making a difference in the community. Services must be performed outside of the context of the nominee’s paid employment and in service to the City of Berlin. A plaque will be awarded to each winner and a small name plate will be installed on the public Volunteer Recognition Tree at City Hall.
Awards will be given in the following Award Categories:
Recreation/Sports – volunteer to support activities in the Recreation Department, the Berlin School Sports Program or other City sponsored leisure events
Humanities/Arts – volunteer in support of the humanities and arts in the community such as the Berlin Public Library, Berlin Public Schools Arts and Music programs
Education – volunteer in support of the Berlin Public Schools
Government – volunteer on a city board or other function of the government of the city
Grounds and Special Outdoor Projects – volunteers assisting in the care of city property, infrastructure, with mowing, painting, etc.
Please submit the Nomination Form and letters of support (2 maximum) as one packet. The nomination must be submitted no later than March 15th of each year. A panel of community leaders and volunteers will review nominations and make the award decisions. All nominees and award recipients will receive letters of congratulations prior to the public announcement.
